Telenor Calls for Arbitration over VimpelCom/Weather Deal

VimpelCom Amends Merger Agreement with Wind Telecom

­Russia's VimpelCom has announced an amended agreement to buy Wind Telecom (formerly Weather Investments) from Egypt's Naguib Sawiris. The agreement was approved by six of VimpelCom's nine directors, with the three telenor-nominated directors voting against, as they had previously said they would.  more

VimpelCom Approves a Revised Merger with Weather Investments

­VimpelCom's Board of Directors has approved the proposed merger of VimpelCom and Egypt based Weather Investments but added that it did not take a decision on certain shareholder-related issues. As expected, six of of the nine directors, including all three independent directors and the three Altimo-nominated directors, voted in favor of the Transaction, with the telenor-nominated directors voting against the Transaction.  more

Telenor to Oppose VimpelCom/Weather Merger

PTA Pakistan September 2006 Customer Numbers

Another 2.33m net new mobile customers joined the fast expanding ranks in Pakistan in the month of September, taking the country's total subscriber base to over 41.5m. With average monthly net additions for the 12 months to 30th September 2006 standing at 2.05m, customer base growth for year amounted to 145.4%, down from 167.5% for the year to 30th June. more
