Vodafone Rebrands its Ghana Subsidiary

Ghana Telecom has been rebranded as Vodafone Ghana and launched a brand new website. After buying a 70 per cent shareholding in the Ghana Telecommunication Company in August 2008, partnering with the Government of Ghana, Vodafone says that it has made significant investments to improve the performance and to expand the capacity of its networks. Vodafone has also signed a multi-million dollar deal with Huawei Technologies to bring its 3G network services to the Ghanaian market.  more

Asia Pacific Operators in Q3 '07: CDMA staging a revival?

The three months ended September 30th saw a record number of new connections in the Asia Pacific region. Overall, nearly 85 million new customers were connected which is very nearly as many as Germany, Europe's largest economy, has added in the 22 years since mobile service started. The vast majority of these chose to adopt either GSM or WCDMA technology, these two accounting for 66.1m and 9.4m of the total respectively.  more

Malaysia Sees Sharp Drop in Mobile Subscribers

Malaysia's prepaid registration programme came to an end in Q4 2006, during which time unregistered SIMs were disconnected from the networks of the country's three operators. In total there were almost 2.4m net disconnections between September and December, which implies that the total number of unregistered SIMs was nearer to 3m if normal organic growth in the quarter is assumed. more
