Second Bangladeshi Operator Plans Stock Market Listing
Bangladeshi mobile phone network operator, AKTEL has confirmed that it still intends to list its shares on the local stock market. The company is 70% owned by Telekom Malaysia International and the 30% remaining is currently in the process of being sold by A.K. Khan to Japan's DoCoMo for around US$350 million. more

Ericsson has signed a contract with TM International Bangladesh Limited (TMIB) for expansion and upgrading of their GSM network in Bangladesh. TMIB's main shareholder is Malaysian operator Telekom Malaysia. "With the new contract from Ericsson, we will be able to increase capacity and coverage in Dhaka and Chittagong and soon role out coverage in Sylhet, Khulna, Comilla, Fena and other cities in Bangladesh," says Omas Zaki Mustafa, Managing Director of TMIB." more
