Telekom Austria Group First Half Profits Down 26%
Telekom Austria Group has reported that its first half revenues decline by 5.8% to EUR 2.39 billion (US$3.37 billion) primarily driven by lower fixed line revenues. EBITDA decreased by 5.2% to EUR 904.8 million (US$1.28 billion) while operating costs decline by 6.7%. Net income fell by 25.8% to EUR 167.6 million (US$236.5 million), from EUR 226 million a year ago. more

The Telekom Austria Group has announced that its Fixed Net subsidiary, Telekom Austria, has reached the 250,000 customer mark with its mobile telephony service ‘aonMobil' as of May 2009. ‘aonMobil' is Austria's most rapidly growing mobile offering: in a year-on-year comparison, ‘aonMobil' subscribers increased by more than six times from 2007 to 2008, and from January 2009 to date, total subscribers increased by 133%. more

Telekom Austria Quarterly Profit Drops by a Third
Telekom Austria Group has seen a five percent drop in first-quarter revenues to EUR 1.2 billion (US$1.6 billion) primarily due to lower revenues in the landline division. Net profits dropped by 34% to EUR 85.3 million (US$116.2 million) compared to EUR 129.7 million a year ago. EBITDA decreased by 6.4% to EUR 454.8 million (US$620 million) due to weaker contribution from mobile phones division while landlines grows slightly. more

The Telekom Austria Group has announced that Velcom, its Belarusian mobile subsidiary, will offer mobile broadband to its customers in cooperation with Belcel, a mobile communication service provider. The service will be based on CDMA 450/EV-DO Rev, a technology with data rates of up to 3.1 Mbit/s. more

Telekom Austria Slips into the Red on Restructuring Costs
Telekom Austria Group has reported full year revenues up 5.1% to €5.17 billion (US$6.6 billion), although EBITDA decreased by 30.2% to €1.3 billion (US$1.66 billion) due to restructuring costs in its landline division which cost it €632 million (US$806 million). Excluding the restructuring program EBITDA increased by 3.9% to €1.93 billion (US$2.46 billion). more

Telekom Austria to Cut 1,250 Jobs
Telekom Austria has announced that it plans to cut 1,250 jobs and make a provision of €630 million (US$812 million) for the measure in its 4th quarter results. However, as the employees are protected by labour agreements from when the company was state owned, they cannot be made compulsorily redundant and the company hopes to offer incentives for them to take voluntary redundancy. more
