Telefonica Announces Wide-Spread Trials of LTE Networks

­telefonica says that it has reached an agreement with six LTE technology providers to launch LTE test projects in six different countries. The suppliers telefonica has chosen so far: Alcatel-Lucent, Ericsson, Huawei, NEC, Nokia Siemens Networks and ZTE, will start rolling out the equipment necessary for testing the technology during the coming months.  more

ZTE Ships 100 Millionth Mobile Phone

China's ZTE  says that it has achived a sales record of 100 million handsets. ZTE originally started selling its handsets on a large-scale basis in 2002, with initial output reaching 1.8 million units and by 2004, ZTE had made 11 million units. To sustain the momentum and keep pace with stiff competition in the global handset arena, ZTE changed its handset business strategy from 2005 and opted to collaborate with global telecom carriers and service providers to further expand its global reach.  more

Vodafone to Launch DSL High Speed Internet in Spain

MADRID -(Dow Jones)- Vodafone Group said Wednesday it would launch a DSL-based high speed Internet service in Spain for residential customers Oct. 8, as the Spanish unit makes a further step towards the integration of its mobile and fixed-line services.  more
