Nokia Siemens Wins Contracts in Czech Republic and Slovakia
Telefónica O2 has selected Nokia Siemens Networks to extend its mobile networks in the Czech Republic and Slovakia. Under a three-year contract, Nokia Siemens Networks will be the sole supplier of the 2G and optionally 3G networks covering Slovakia and 2G and 3G in the Czech Republic's two major cities, Prague and Brno. more

O2 Germany to Upgrade Network to Support 28Mbps Data Download Speeds
Telefónica O2 Germany has announced plans to upgrade its network to HSPA+, and start offering peak download speeds of up to 28Mbps in the second half of this year. The network upgrade will initially occur in Munich - where O2 has its headquarters. more

O2 Germany Aquires 80 Retail Outlets from Competitor

Alcatel-Lucent Wins Czech Messaging Contract
Alcatel-Lucent has been selected by Telefónica O2 Czech Republic to support the launch of a range of next-generation messaging services for its subscribers. Telefonica Wins $470 Million Contract With Deutsche Post / DHL
Deutsche Post World Net - the German based postal operator and owner of parcels firm, DHL - has selected Telefónica to manage its communications services across 28 European countries over the next five years. Telefónica will become Deutsche Post World Net's primary fixed and mobile telecommunications provider in Europe and is expected to help the logistics group save over €150 million in costs over the period. more

Telefonica Gets a Debt Ratings Upgrade
Fitch Ratings has upgraded telefonica and its subsidiary O2's Long-term Issuer Default ratings (IDRs) to 'A-'(A minus) from 'BBB+', respectively. The agency has simultaneously upgraded telefonica Finance USA's preference shares to 'BBB+' from 'BBB'. telefonica's short term rating of F2 is affirmed. more

Amdocs Buys Mobile Web Personalisation Firm, ChangingWorlds
Amdocs has announced that it is to buy Changing Worlds, a privately-held provider of personalization and portal solutions for mobile service providers. Under the terms of the agreement, Amdocs has agreed to pay US $60 million in cash, net of cash on hand, subject to post-closing adjustments.
