Telefonica Announces Wide-Spread Trials of LTE Networks

­telefonica says that it has reached an agreement with six LTE technology providers to launch LTE test projects in six different countries. The suppliers telefonica has chosen so far: Alcatel-Lucent, Ericsson, Huawei, NEC, Nokia Siemens Networks and ZTE, will start rolling out the equipment necessary for testing the technology during the coming months.  more

Mexico Raises Spectrum Cap on Forthcoming Auction

Telefonica Increases its Stake in China Unicom

­Spain's telefonica and China's Unicom are to invest US$1 billion in each other and have signed an agreement to cooperate in various business areas. After the completion of the transaction, China Unicom's shareholding in telefonica will be approximately 0.88% and telefonica's shareholding in China Unicom will increase to approximately 8% from 5.38%.  more
