Telecom Italia Mobile Lost 1.5 Million Customers in 2008

The Italian market lost a total of 135k customers over the year, with net losses in Q2 and Q4 trumping the smaller net gains in the other two periods. The year closed with a total base of 88.58m, compared to 88.72m, while penetration dropped from 152.6% to 152.4%.  more

Starhome predicts data roaming usage increase - average of 35-45 percent

Roaming services provider, Starhome has predicted that solutions that stimulate roaming traffic and add new data subscribers will be in high demand in 2009. These solutions will increase individual mobile operators' revenues by up to 40 percent, and operators offering this solution can increase their data roaming usage by an average of 35-45 percent, said Starhome personnel.  more

3 Italia Denies Report of 3G Network Break-Up

In a terse statement, 3 Italia has firmly denied the story published by Sole 24 Ore regarding the sale of company assets to Italian competitors. Telecom Italia to Support Nokia's Mobile Content Store

Nokia has announced a deal with Telecom Italia to put its mobile content store, Ovi onto Nokia handsets sold by Telecom Italia Mobile (TIM). As part of the collaboration, Nokia will customize the new Nokia handsets to provide easy access to TIM services. Similarly, TIM customers can access all Nokia services through the customized Multimedia Menu embedded into their Nokia device.  more

Turkcell Passes Subscriber Landmark

Turkey's Turkcell says that it added 1.1 million net new subscribers during the third quarter of this year, bringing their total base of 30.8 million. Revenue increased to US$1,199.4 million in the third quarter of 2006 mainly due to the higher MoU and increasing subscriber base, despite the 4% currency depreciation against the dollar. more
