Tele2 and Telenor to Jointly Build LTE Network in Sweden

Sweden's tele2 and Telenor have this morning announced plans to jointly build an LTE based network through a new joint-venture company. Active RAN Sharing Could Save Operators $60 Billion

A new study from ABI Research finds that the worldwide combined OPEX and CAPEX savings from active infrastructure sharing could amount to as much as $60 billion over the next five year period. The study finds that operators could enjoy at least 40% cost savings in addition to those available from passive site sharing.  more

DiGi appoints new Chief Technology Officer

Ole Martin Gunhildsbu has been appointed by Malaysian mobile network, DiGi Telecommunications as its new Chief Technology Officer ("CTO") with immediate effect. He has been acting CTO since November 2008 when his predecessor left to take up a new role within the Telenor Group.  more

Sweden Finishes "4G" Spectrum Auction

Sweden's telecoms regulator, the PTS has announced that its spectrum auction in the 2.6 GHz band has been concluded, after 16 days of bidding and 112 bidding rounds. Five bidders have won licenses for the total amount of SEK2,099,450,000 (US$348 million).  more

Tele2 Switching MVNO Traffic from Telenor to NetCom

TeliaSonera's subsidiary NetCom says that it has signed an agreement with tele2 to use Netcom's mobile network as a mobile virtual network operator (MVNO). The agreement implies transferring all tele2 Norge's traffic from Telenor's network to NetCom's network before April 1, 2008. more
