The Top Operators in Caribbean & LatAm by Subscriber Growth

Between them, the ten fastest growing operators in Latin America and the Caribbean added a total of over 52m new connections over the past year, or around two thirds of the regionÃ's 78m total. Quarter on quarter, the bias towards the industry leaders was even more pronounced, with 17.55m of the 19.0m or so new connections happening at the top end of the market. The quarter is somewhat atypical, due to the dismemberment of Telemig, which has boosted the numbers for both Vivo and TNL, but this is a region with an unusual concentration of power.  more

Who are the 20 Largest Operators in the Americas?

At the end of the September quarter, the ten largest networks in the Caribbean and Latin America region all had a minimum of 10 million customers. This remains the case in the current quarter, with those same ten and only those ten having passed this mark. In fact, the status quo is essentially undisturbed, with each of the ten remaining in the same place as they were three months earlier. In the light of this, we have decided to deviate slightly from our normal practice and to display the leading CALA operators together with their North American counterparts.  more

Who are the Top 10 Operators in Lat-Am and The Caribbean?

The top 10 network operators in the Caribbean & Latin America region now all have over 10m customers as 10th placed Telecom Personal of Argentina crossed the 10m customer barrier in the quarter. The composition and order of the top 10 has remained unchanged throughout 2007, with Telecel in Mexico leading from Vivo and TIM in Brasil. telcel has pulled ahead of its rivals, extending its lead over Vivo from 12.0m customers at the end of September 2006 to 16.2m customers a year later, whilst TIM closed the gap between it and its domestic rival from 4.6m to 2.2m customers during the year.  more

Who are the Fastest Growing Networks in Caribbean/Latin America?

The majority of the names on the list of the leading operators in Caribbean and Latin America (CALA) by customer numbers reappear on the list of the fastest growing - but not the first on the list. This is minor Mexican player Iusacell, which recorded 1.7m additions to take its total to 3.9m. However, the numbers have to be treated with caution - the vast majority of this growth came from the acquisition of Unefon which closed during the quarter. Without this, the number of new connections would have been below 0.5m - not enough to take a place in the top ten, let alone first.  more

Who are the Largest Operators in Lat-Am & Caribbean?

There has not been any change to the ten largest companies in the Caribbean and Latin America over the last quarter region and in fact, neither has there been any change to the overall positioning. However, the quarterly rate of growth that these ten companies are achieving varies quite dramatically - from a low of -0.1% to a high of 16% - so it is likely that there will be changes in the future. As before, America Movil owns four of the top ten and Telefonica three, while Telecom Italia controls one and has a minority interest in another. The last of the ten is independent, or rather, is the mobile subsidiary of a Brazilian regional wireline operator.  more
