WiMAX Coverage to Expand in Iranian Capital City

Iran Cancels 3rd Mobile Phone License

Iran Awards 3G License to Etisalat

UAE based Etisalat has confirmed media reports which emerged late last year - that it has won the third mobile network license in the Islamic Republic of Iran in consortium with Taameen Telecom, a company owned by the Iranian Social Security Organization (SSO) that serves more than 30 million Iranians through pension funds. Etisalat will have a 49% stake in the joint venture.  more

Iran: SMS use regulated

NCRI - The mullahs' regime has imposed new regulations on SMS use in the country according to the Resistance sources inside Iran.

In the latest move to regulate its use, the Organization of Communications Regulations has putout new laws imposing restrictions on sending SMS. For a typical cell owner, he has to go through security checks by the Ministry of Intelligence and Security (MOIS) to receive clearance for using the service.  more

The Iranian government has inaugurated the world's fourth highest telecoms tower in the capital city, tehran. The Milad Tower sits on a hill in northwestern tehran measures 435 metres (1,427 feet) from the base to the tip of the antenna and took 11 years to build, at a cost of US$194 million.  more

Iran Looking to Sell Large Stake in State Owned Telco

The Iranian government has announced plans to sell off a second stake in the state owned telecoms operator, the Telecommunication Company of Iran (TCI). The government recently floated a five percent stake on the local stock market and had been expected to seek an external investor. Ali Rahmani, managing director of the tehran Stock Exchange has now confirmed that a 49% stake will be sold to a single investor, with a foreign party being invited to take up to 35% of the company.  more
