Huawei and IPWireless Working Together on Integrated Mobile Broadcast Technology
Huawei and IPWireless have signed a co-operation agreement with respect to the production of each party's Integrated Mobile Broadcast (IMB) technology. This co-operation will include interoperability testing (IOT) and service provider trials. The testing will ensure compatibility between Huawei IMB base stations and IPWireless chipsets. Both companies are also working together on several commercial and technical IMB pilots. more

Alvarion to Add LTE to its Existing WiMAX Portfolio
Israeli WiMAX vendor, Alvarion has announced that it will start to support the upcoming TD-LTE standard, although it also reiterated its support for the WiMAX platform. Alvarion expects to engage in TD-LTE field trials in the first quarter of 2011. more

UK Operators Testing Mobile TV Over Unused TDD Radio Spectrum

GSMA Endorses 3GPP's Integrated Mobile Broadcast Standard
The GSM Association says that it has endorsed a new 3GPP standard, Integrated Mobile Broadcast (IMB), which should enable spectrally-efficient delivery of broadcast services, based on techniques that are aligned with existing FDD WCDMA but also allowing deployment in tdd spectrum. This also allows for the smooth handover between IMB delivery and existing deployed technology. more
TD-LTE Receiver Measurements Drive Test System Launched
Agilent Technologies has announced TD- LTE Receiver Measurements as a software upgrade to its E6474A Drive Test Network Optimization Platform. Network equipment manufacturers and wireless service providers can use the software on Agilent W1314A receivers to quickly verify base-station RF coverage, plot accurate coverage maps and validate planning in the early development of LTE networks. This new option builds on the existing FDD-LTE measurements in the Agilent solution to provide both FDD-LTE and TD-LTE measurements on a single measurement platform. more
