Dell Reported to be in Talks for Chinese Smartphones

Dell Computers, which has been rumoured to be entering the smartphone market for several years, is now hotly rumoured to be in talks with China Mobile to launch its first range of handsets in the country. The company has been apparently rebuffed by several operators who considered prototype handsets as bland an uninspiring. ZTE Shows of EDGE/TD-SCDMA Mobile Phone

Open Source OS Assists Chinese Development of the Smart Phone Market

A report from Chinese research firm, CCID Consulting shows that the sales volume of smart phones in China's market in the first half of 2008 reached 15.671 million sets, up 32.1% over H1 2007, and the sales revenue reached 37.74 billion Yuan, up 25.7% over H1 2007.  more

Microsoft and Dell to Support Chinese 3G Standard

Microsoft and computer manufacturer, Dell have teamed up with China's Datang Mobile to develop a range of products based on the Chinese 3G standard, td-scdma. The core aspect of the cooperation relates to studying the compatibility of the Windows operating system with a 3G data card and Dell computers.  more

ZTE Sells 10 Million CDMA Handsets

China's ZTE has announced that its global sales of CDMA handsets have passed the 10 million mark. Since the launch of the ZTE C150 handset in September last year, for example, global sales have passed three million units in just six months. The company recently won a contract for supply of the ZTE H500 CDMA/GSM dual mode, dual stand-by handset to China Unicom as part of the operator's World Wind handset purchase. ZTE also recently launched the world's first td-scdma/GSM dual mode, dual stand-by handset. more
