Green Packet Wins Taiwanese WiMAX Software Contract

Malaysia's Green Packet says that it has sealed an agreement with Taiwan-based tatung Infocomm to enhance the connectivity capabilities of tatung's WiMAX network. The agreement will see Green Packet providing tatung with a customised edition of its Intouch Connection Management Platform. This provision will greatly improve tatung InfoComm's ability to offer seamless mobility across networks over secured mobile VPN, for example a user moving from tatung WiMAX to Wi-Fi and back to a WiMAX coverage area.  more

NEC Opens WiMAX Interoperability Testing Center in Taiwan

Japan's NEC says that it has established an R&D Center for WiMAX systems in Taiwan. The center will initially serve as an Interoperability Testing (IoT) center for local CPE vendors and NEC's WiMAX system, "PasoWings". In the future, the center is planned to become an application development center for WiMAX. The establishment of the R&D center is part of an agreement by NEC to support the M-Taiwan Project following an Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed in May 2007 during the Taipei WiMAX Summit.  more

Alcatel-Lucent Wins Taiwanese WiMAX Contract

Taiwan's tatung InfoComm, a wholly owned subsidiary of a Taiwanese conglomerate, tatung Co., has selected Alcatel-Lucent to deploy a commercial WiMAX 802.16e-2005 (Rev-e) network in Penghu County, Taiwan. tatung holds one of the commercial WiMAX licenses for TaiwanÃ's southern regions.  more
