Deutsche Telekom Under Pressure to Sell T-Mobile UK

Deutsche Telekom is reported to be coming under pressure to sell the UK arm of T-Mobile due to ongoing poor performance at the mobile network. Deutsche Telekom (DT) recently warned that it might have to write down the valuation of the company in its next financial results.  more

Arqiva named as principal cell site partner for 3G network integration project

Mobile Broadband Network Limited (MBNL), the network joint venture between T-Mobile UK and Hutchison 3G UK, has selected Arqiva as its strategic partner for the provision of cell sites. Under the terms of the 10-year agreement, Arqiva will provide MBNL with 5,100 sites and Arqiva will have exclusive marketing rights for site sharing services on a further 2,500 sites.  more

BT Signs 3G Backhaul Contract with T-Mobile and 3 UK

T-Mobile UK and Hutchison 3G UK, through their joint venture company, Mobile Broadband Network Ltd (MBNL), have signed a five-year managed network solutions agreement with the UK's dominant landline operator, BT to provide links connecting 7,500 base station sites on their consolidated 3G infrastructure.  more

T-Mobile UK to Shut-Down 5,000 Base Stations

UK mobile operator, T-Mobile is reported to be planning a shut-down of some 5,000 of its base stations as part of its network sharing deal with Hutchison 3G UK. The UK trade magazine, Mobile Today said that both networks are removing transmitters as they begin to share resources.  more

T-Mobile Appoints New Director for its UK Retail Outlets

T-Mobile UK has appointed Andrew Coull as Director of Retail. Andrew joined T-Mobile in January 2007 as Head of Retail Operations, bringing with him over 15 years of retail experience across a range of sectors. In his new role, he will be responsible for driving T-MobileÃ's retail vision and customer service delivery. Prior to joining T-Mobile, Andrew worked in a range of retail positions at beauty retailer, Superdrug (owned by Hutchison Whampoa), food supermarket chain SainsburyÃ's and clothing to foods retailer, Marks & Spencer.  more
