A report from China's CCID Consulting has found that the sales volume of China's smart phone market in 2008Q3 reached 7.474 million units, up 0.6% over Q2 '08; the sales revenue in Q3 reached 18.17 billion Yuan, up 4.5% over 2008Q2. AT&T Looking to Reduce Smartphone OS Support
US operator, AT&T is looking to reduce the number of phone operating systems supported by its own-brand phones to just one or two platforms. Speaking at the symbian Partner Conference, Roger Smith, director of next-generation services at AT&T, warned that Java based handsets had been problematic, mainly due to in-house management issues - and hinted that symbian would become its preferred platform. more
