S&P Downgrades Nokia's Debt Ratings

Standard & Poor's Ratings Services said today it lowered its long-term corporate credit rating on Nokia to 'A-' from 'A'. In addition, S&P affirmed the 'A-1' short-term rating. They removed all ratings from CreditWatch, where they were placed with negative implications on Feb. 1, 2011. The outlook is now stable.  more

RIM handset testing dominates while Android development is on the rise and Symbian falls

­Despite an overall decline of 13.6% over the past 12 months, RIM continues to have the highest total share of smartphone testing time (45%), according to internal statistics from the remote testing vendor, DeviceAnywhere. Nokia Sells Qt Commercial Accounts and Platform to Digia

Symbian Still Leading in Malaysian Smartphone Market

­2010 was a boom year for the mobile phone industry in Malaysia, as consumers snapped up over 24 percent more units of mobile phone; growing the overall value of the industry by 30 percent compared to the year before. Smartphones were the key contributors to the industry's good performance, with GfK Malaysia's retail audit findings reflecting more than a two-fold growth of 208 percent in the number of units sold, and 150 percent increase in terms of value sales.  more

Nokia Cancels First MeeGo Smartphone Before Even Released

­Nokia has halted development on its first MeeGo based smartphone, just a few months before its anticipated release, reports the Reuters news agency. Citing two industry sources close to the company, Reuters said that the company had been expected to show off the device at this Friday's highly anticipated investor show. Leaked photos last month had shown a Nokia branded device running the MeeGo OS for the first time.  more
