LTE Deployments will Cluster in 2600 Frequency Band

Strategy Analytics is predicting that the majority of LTE deployments by wireless operators will use the 2,600 MHz band, creating ample new opportunities for terminal component vendors. A strong tranche of deployments will also occur at sub-1,000 MHz frequencies, including roll-outs by such prominent operators as Verizon in the US, eventually accounting for one-third of deployments globally.  more

Studying the battery budget in cellphones, Strategy Analytics' latest report reveals that improvements in component power consumption and battery chemistry will not be sufficient to offset the growth in feature penetration and application usage. Global Mobile Phone Shipments Dropped by 10% in Q4 2008

According to the latest research from Strategy Analytics, global mobile phone shipments fell 10 percent year-over-year, to reach 295 million units in Q4 2008. An economic downturn in developed and emerging markets caused the industry's slowest growth rate since 2001.  more

US Wireless Growth Won't Be Stopped by Weak Economy

A Strategy Analytics report is predicting that US cellular subscriber growth will remain strong despite the economic situation, although growth levels will scale back slightly from 2008. US cellular service revenues will also continue to grow, albeit at a slower growth rate of 3.9%, down from 7.5% in 2008.  more
