Verizon Announces LTE Deployment Plans - Going Live in 2010

Verizon's CTO, Dick Lynch has outlined the company's plans to roll out an LTE upgrade for its wireless network. Lynch announced that Verizon Wireless has selected Ericsson and Alcatel-Lucent as primary network vendors for its initial LTE network deployments. These two vendors are expected to build the underlying infrastructure that will enable Verizon Wireless to become the first wireless company to offer commercial LTE-based service in the United States, starting in 2010.  more

Starent Networks to Provide Mobile Multimedia Core for Motorola's LTE Platform

Starent Networks says that Motorola has selected it to provide multimedia core networking solutions for use in its LTE (Long Term Evolution)/SAE (System Architecture Evolution) network offerings. The Starent Networks products fulfill the functional requirements defined in the SAE or Evolved Packet Core (EPC) standards.  more

Taiwan's Fitel Deploys Starent Networks WiMAX Kit

Starent Networks has announced Taiwan's First International Telecom (Fitel) has deployed Starent Networks' solutions to enable multimedia services through its mobile WiMAX network. Fitel provides mobile communications services through its network to more than one million subscribers. In 2007, Fitel acquired spectrum for a WiMAX network in Northern Taiwan.  more
