Sprint Outlines WiMAX Expansion Programme

Court Gives Sprint Just One Year to Leave Nextel Network in iPCS Territory
A US court has given sprint Nextel about a year to abandon its Nextel network in the territory of one of its wireless affiliates, iPCS Wireless following a lengthy and acrimonious court battle. The order requires sprint to cease owning, operating and managing the Nextel wireless network in iPCS Wireless' service area on or before January 25, 2010. The order provides that sprint may request an extension of that period upon a showing of good cause. more

Nokia Ceases Production of its Only WiMAX Device
Nokia has stopped producing its only WiMAX device, the N810 WiMax Edition, after just a few months of sales. The handset was originally shown last April as an upgrade of the existing N810 which relied on Wi-Fi for its connection, and launched in October. more

Adaptix, a Texan WiMAX base station and mobile terminal vendor has launched legal action against sprint Nextel and Clearwire for allegedly infringing six of its patents. The company is demanding the usual damages, fines and a bar on the company from continuing the rollout of its nationwide WiMAX network. more
