Tele2 Names Replacement CEO

Tele2 has announced that Harri Koponen is to replace Lars-Johan Jarnheimer as President and CEO of the company from this August. Cukurova Sells Turkcell Stake to Repay Debts

Turkey's Cukurova has sold a 4.1 percent stake in Tueky's Turkcell for US$772 million in order to fund the repayment of debts. Teliasonera, which is a major shareholder in Turkcell is understood to have offered to buy the shares, but has not currently been allocated any. The purchase would move Teliasonera closer to its long held goal of taking control of Turkey's largest mobile operator.  more

Sonera Moves Email Servers to Avoid Swedish Spy Laws

TeliaSonera Appeals Against Spectrum Removal

Teliasonera Finland says that it is appealing against the Finnish Communications Regulatory Authority's (FICORA) GSM 900 radio license decision and has requested that the enforcement of the decision should be suspended for the duration of the appeal process. The Finnish Communications Regulatory Authority (FICORA) announced yesterday that it is going to transfer some GSM spectrum from sonera Mobile to rival operator, Finnet Networks from the end of next year. sonera Mobile is due to hold onto that spectrum until the end of 2010 according to its current license. more
