GSM Coverage Expands in the Solomon Islands
Solomon Islands monopoly telco, Solomon Telekom (trading as Breeze GSM) is expanding its GSM network and is due to launch its service in the Makira provincial capital, Kirakira, on Tuesday 29th July, 2008. Digicel Blocked from Operating in Solomon Islands
The Solomon Islands monopoly telecoms provider, Solomon Telekom says that has obtained an injunction against Digicel Pacific, restraining it from providing any telecommunication services (including mobile phone services) in Solomon Islands until the High Court makes a decision in current proceedings by Telekom to have its exclusive licence upheld by the Court. more

Telecoms Repairs After Solomon Islands Riots
Following riots in the Solomon Islands, Solomon Telekom Fault Engineers and Technicians have responded quickly to the total blackout of landline telephones in and around the Chinatown area. As of Thursday 20 April, Telekom's Fault and PABX rapid response units rigged temporary lines to Solomon Star, Forum Fisheries Agency and the Red Cross, restoring critical communication lines to these establishments. more
Three GSM contracts for Pacific island nations
interWAVE has won three contracts for GSM infrastructure in the Pacific Islands. These contracts for deployments in the Solomon Islands, Marshall Islands, and Cook Islands total approximately US$1.5 million.
