3 UK to Scrap Top-Up Fee Requirement for Skype Users
Hutchison 3G UK (3 UK) has announced that it will offer unlimited Skype-to-Skype calls and instant messages at no charge to anyone with a 3 SIM card. Starting from next month, there will be no data charges or top-up fees for either contract or pay-as-you-go customers who use Skype on 3's UK network. Anyone with a 3 UK branded Skype-enabled handset will be able to buy a 3 SIM and talk as much as they want to other Skype users without ever having to pay another penny. more

Hutchison Whampoa has launched its own mobile phone subsidiary, INQ Mobile to develop phones for its 3G networks worldwide. The company aims to launch a range of low to mid-priced handsets based largely on free operating systems, likely to be either Linux or the Google backed Android OS - and will be based on Qualcomm chips. more

Small Businesses Expect to Increase Technology Spending in 2008
Small businesses will increase technology spending in 2008 with a focus on PCs and communications services according to the results of a customer survey conducted by RingCentral. The survey, completed by small business owners and entrepreneurs across the U.S., reveals that email and phone (land-line, IP phone, softphone or mobile phone) are the most important technologies for conducting business, followed closely by a website (email: 81 percent; mobile phone: 77 percent; business phone: 69 percent; and, website: 61%). more
