IBM Study Finds Consumers Prefer a Mobile Device Over the PC

IBM has released new survey results which claims that over 50 percent of consumers would substitute their Internet usage on a PC for a mobile device. IBM surveyed 600 consumers in the USA, China and the UK on their preferences regarding the mobile Internet., and found that communication, travel and navigation applications, as well as news and information services, are expected to increase significantly in popularity and usage over the mobile Internet.  more

JupiterResearch has found an emerging opportunity for tracking applications among two distinct segments of mobile phone users. Outlined in a new report, 42 percent of parents with children under age 13 are especially interested and willing to pay for services that allow them to track their child's location. And 26 percent of cell phone owners between the ages of 18 to 24 want mobile social networking applications based on their friends' locations. more
