T-Mobile Ranks Top in Mobile Broadband Survey
T-Mobile's UK 3G/HSPA network has been judged the best in the UK in independent tests carried out by test house, P3 Solutions over the last quarter. The tests benchmark T-Mobile against its competitors by measuring customer experiences that matter most to users during peak usage hours across 16 cities throughout the UK. When measured against its competitors, T-Mobile was found on aggregate to be fastest for internet upload and download speeds as well as for web browsing and for sending and receiving emails. more

StarHub Tripple 3G Data Upload Speeds
Singapore's StarHub has upgraded its HSPA network nationwide to 5.76Mbps on the uplink, tripling its current mobile broadband upload capacity of 1.9Mbps. When completed in end December 2008, the upgrade will make StarHub the first operator in Asia to have a nationwide High-Speed Uplink Packet Access (HSUPA) network at 5.76Mbps. more

T-Mobile UK Deploys HSUPA Upgrade Nationwide
T-Mobile has become the first UK operator to deploy a HSUPA upgrade across its entire 3G network - enabling data uploads of up to 1.4Mbps. T-Mobile has also upgraded the underlying download capability of the HSDPA-enabled 3G network to 7.2Mbps, initially within the London area but rolling out to other major cities during the second half of 2008. more

Femtocell access point market: great potential, tough hurdles
Many factors are converging to create a market ripe for femtocell technology, says a new report from analyst firm Infonetics Research. Chief among these factors:
- Mounting numbers of mobile subscribers, forecast by Infonetics to hit 4.4 billion worldwide in 2011
- A booming broadband market, driven by demand for faster Internet connection speeds and applications like social networking, online gaming, and multimedia
- Mobile operators seeking to boost revenue by enticing customers to pay for new data services to offset escalating mobile backhaul costs and voice revenue losses

AT&T Plans Major Expansion of 3G Wireless Broadband Service in 2008
AT&T has detailed the highlights of the company's 2008 wireless network expansion plans, including the deployment of 3G wireless broadband service to more than 80 additional cities in the United States through the course of the year. The planned expansion is expected to deliver AT&T 3G services to nearly 350 leading U.S. markets by the end of 2008, including all of the top 100 U.S. cities. The 3G initiative will include the roll out of more than 1,500 additional cell sites nationwide. more

Qualcomm Shows Off Low-Power Consumption 3G Chipsets
Qualcomm has launched a new range of WCDMA chipsets which the company says will enable a dramatic reduction in the cost of WCDMA based mobile phones.
