More Americans Using Their Mobile Phones For Matters Of The Heart

So much for whispering sweet nothings. It seems that texting and social networking sites may be the new way to show you care-and that you don't. A recent survey of 500 Americans aged 18 and above carried out by Nokia USA, found that nearly two-thirds (64%) of them have made a date via text messaging. But it's not only for good news that they're using technology. When a relationship goes south, they turn to technology to break the news: Roughly one in every 10 (11%) of Americans have used text messaging to end a romantic relationship and 7 percent have ended a relationship via a social networking site on their mobile device.  more

Openwave Systems has published a report highlighting key mobile internet usage trends in North America, based on findings derived from its Mobile Analytics product. Twitter Support for 2-Way SMS Returns to Canada

Bell Canada has announced that Bell Mobility will be the first wireless carrier to resume Canadians full SMS support for interacting with the micro-blogging site, Twitter. Last November, Twitter stopped supporting 2-way SMS traffic, citing the high costs of sending the replies back to the handsets.  more

Nokia in Talks with Facebook Over Handset Integration

T-Mobile Ranks Top in Mobile Broadband Survey

T-Mobile's UK 3G/HSPA network has been judged the best in the UK in independent tests carried out by test house, P3 Solutions over the last quarter. The tests benchmark T-Mobile against its competitors by measuring customer experiences that matter most to users during peak usage hours across 16 cities throughout the UK. When measured against its competitors, T-Mobile was found on aggregate to be fastest for internet upload and download speeds as well as for web browsing and for sending and receiving emails.  more

Hutchison Whampoa Launches Handset Subsidiary

Hutchison Whampoa has launched its own mobile phone subsidiary, INQ Mobile to develop phones for its 3G networks worldwide. The company aims to launch a range of low to mid-priced handsets based largely on free operating systems, likely to be either Linux or the Google backed Android OS - and will be based on Qualcomm chips.  more
