Half of Brits Have Not Changed Phone Usage Patterns in Past 5 Years
Voice and text remain the ˘â‚¬Ëśkiller' applications worldwide as mobile phone users across the globe admit to using their devices for the same things that they did in 2003. Research commissioned by telecom application connectivity specialist AppTrigger also showed that despite advances in mobile phone functionality and the launch of devices such as Apple's iPhone, almost a third (30%) of Americans and Canadians and more than half of UK adults (57%) insist that the way in which they use their mobiles has not changed for five years. more

MTN Upgrades Messaging Options for South African PrePay Customers
South Africa's MTN has upgraded its messaging platform for its PrePay customers, offering callers to its subscribers who are unavailable the option to either leave a voicemail message or send a text message. Previously prepaid subscribers had to choose between two options; regular voicemail or an sms notification service (called VoiceMail Lite) which sent subscribers information about missed calls but had no ability to record a message. more

Ericsson Wins GSM Based FMC Contract in the UK
Ericsson has been selected as sole supplier to supply and operate a complete GSM mobile network for Cable&Wireless as it launches its new Fixed Mobile Convergence (FMC) services in the UK. As Cable&Wireless' exclusive managed services partner, Ericsson will also be responsible for running the network for five years. more
