14-Year Jail Term for Text Messages about the Pakistan's President

Pakistan's Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has been ordered to track down the origin of text messages that are being circulated in the country that are critical of President Asif Ali Zardari. Pakistan's interior minister Rehman Malik announced that the agency has been told to trace sms and e-mails that "slander the political leadership of the country" under the a vaguely drafted Cyber Crimes Act.  more

O2 UK to Offer Free Twitter SMS Updates

O2 UK has announced that it will offer free text message updates for the Twitter service from next month. ­From the start of August, every O2 customer will be able to switch on text notifications within Twitter and receive replies and direct messages completely free. O2 customers will also be able to send updates to Twitter as part of their normal text message bundle or for the cost of a normal text.  more
