One Company Accused of Sending 80% of Chinese Spam SMS
Some eighty percent of SMS spam in China is sent by just one company reports the Beijing Morning Post citing China Central Television's (CCTV) televised World Consumer Day ceremony. SMS As Business Tool on the Rise in South Africa
The use of SMS for business purposes shows widespread adoption within the South African market, according to a pilot study commissioned by BulkSMS.com in July 2006. 95% of respondents reported receiving business communications via SMS while 75% received email communications for business purposes. The study compared the experiences of Internet savvy South African consumers who are also mobile phone users. The study was conducted by Webchek using their SMS channel to conduct the research. more

Jinny Software is launching a Spam Control Centre product, which directly addresses a fundamental mobile phone spamming issue, by allowing operators to automatically detect and block all types of unwanted content and harmful SMS and MMS traffic from any foreign network. This is unlike traditional SMSC filters that only filter SMS spam from on-network traffic. The SMS support enhancement includes all traffic passing through the Spam Control Centre, whether to, or from, foreign SMSCs.
