Ireland's High Court has thrown out an appeal by Smart Telecom over its loss of the 3G license it had earlier been awarded by the telecoms regulator, ComReg. The regulator welcomed the decision by the High Court, as Smart had failed to comply both with the terms of its bid and with the conditions of ComReg's 3G licence offer. The company, which has recently been suffering serious problems after its landline services were cut off due to non-payment of outstanding invoices, was unable to raise the EUR100 million license fee for the 3G licence. more
