Russia's MTS Launches a CDMA Network in India

Russian backed Indian mobile network operator, sistema Shyam Teleservices (SSTL) has launched its CDMA network Tamil Nadu, Chennai and Pondicherry, under the MTS brand. The company outlined plans for a US$5 billion investment over the next five years, and expects to list on the local stock-exchange by the end of next year.  more

Shyam Telelink Connects 100,000th CDMA Subscriber

Indian phone network, Shyam Telelink, a subsidiary of Russia's sistema, says that it has connected the one hundred thousandth subscriber to its CDMA 800 MHz mobile network in the state of Rajasthan since its launch on September 30, 2008. The growth of Shyam TelelinkÃ's subscriber base has exceeded its business plan by 1.5 times.  more
