SIM Alliance sets up new working group
The simalliance has formed a new workgroup to support interoperability and standards enforcement between handset and SIM. The SIM Handset Interoperability Group will provide a vital point of contact between card manufacturers and mobile network operators and aims to improve SIM/handset communication to anticipate technology evolutions from both sides. It aims also to increase operators' awareness of SIM card capabilities, promote the essential handset requirements for the deployment of enhanced SIM-based services and ensure the interoperability of SIM features in handsets. more

SIM Alliance To Publish Specifications In May
simalliance, a group of the world's leading SIM card manufacturers, has restructured its organization to incorporate new members and will publish its first specifications in May 2000. Following its announcement at GSM World Congress 2000 in Cannes, the initiative set up by Gemplus, Giesecke & Devrient, ORGA Kartensysteme and Schlumberger has received membership applications from more than 35 companies. The simalliance has continued preparing S@T (SIM @lliance Toolbox) specifications for interoperable systems and products to access WAP mobile Internet services from any of the widely available phase2+ GSM handsets." more
