Alcatel wins Chinese GSM contracts

Alcatel has won multiple GSM expansion contracts from China Mobile. The total value of the contracts exceeds US$50 million. The contracts were won through Alcatel shanghai Bell, Alcatel's Chinese company. Under the terms of the contracts, Alcatel will deploy its Evolium GSM network solution to expand the capacity of China Mobile's networks mainly in Zhejiang, Guizhou and Chongqing. more

Nokia wins Chinese contract

Nokia is delivering a major GSM network expansion for China Unicom's Zhejiang Branch. The expansion will boost the operator's network capacity by 200,000 subscribers. The deal is part of a raft of recent contracts Nokia signed for the GSM network expansion and service of China Unicom's branches in seven Chinese provinces. Nokia has won contracts in these provinces worth more than US$48 million in total. Nokia was chosen as a main supplier for Zhejiang Unicom following the shanghai Unicom deal announced in September 2003. more

Alcatel wins Chinese GSM contract

Alcatel has signed a GSM expansion contract valued at more than US$114 million with China's Jiangsu Mobile Communication (MCC). This 6th network expansion will increase Alcatel's infrastructure capacity to approximately 8 million subscribers, capturing close to half the marketshare of the entire Jiangsu province. Alcatel signed its first GSM network contract with Jiangsu PTA in 1995, since then most of Jiangsu PTA's GSM network expansions have been undertaken by Alcatel. more

Alcatel wins Chinese GSM contract

Alcatel, through its Chinese joint-venture shanghai Bell Alcatel Mobile Communication System (SBAMC), has signed a GSM network expansion contract with Zhejiang Mobile Communication. This 8th network expansion, which will bring Zhejiang GSM network to a total capacity of 16 million subscribers, will also raise Alcatel's infrastructure capacity to 6.8 million subscribers. The estimated value of the contract is US$76 million. more

Nokia sets up Chinese research center

Nokia and the Zhejiang Provincial Government of China have signed an agreement to set up a new R&D center to be located in Hangzhou, the capital city of Zhejiang province in China. The center will start operations at the beginning of 2002 and is expected to employ up to 500 people in 3 - 4 years' time, will focus on software development, and will develop platform technologies related to Nokia's 3G mobile networks. The aim is to start cooperation with a local partner in 2003, and the partner company will employ the majority of the personnel. more

Nokia supplies more WAP platforms to China
