Alcatel-Lucent Wins French IP/MPLS Contract
Alcatel-Lucent has been selected by France's sfr to supply a core IP/MPLS network. The company says that the IP/MPLS core network will enable sfr to offer a new set of differentiated mobile broadband services, full network Quality of Service (QoS) on a service-by-service basis. In addition, the core MPLS network based on the Alcatel-Lucent IP solution will enable sfr to improve on CAPEX and OPEX through the efficiencies of IP-based technology. more

Nokia Completes WCDMA 900 Voice Call in France
Nokia and French operator sfr have carried out a technical pilot on WCDMA 3G/HSDPA voice call on the 900 MHz band in sfr's network. The equipment used for the voice and data calls included the Nokia Flexi WCDMA Base Station with a special solution for sharing the existing GSM site infrastructure and thus reducing implementation costs significantly, and a Nokia prototype of a WCDMA 900 mobile device. more
Nokia Sells Softwitch to French Operator
Nokia and sfr have signed a contract for the turnkey supply of the Nokia MSC Server (MSS) mobile softswitch to enhance the French operator's network coverage and capacity. The network modernization deal upgrades sfr's current circuit switched core network with a Nokia solution that fully enables fixed mobile convergence and the rapid growth of 3G-traffic. more
