Bouygues Telecom to Trial Alcatel-Lucent's IMS Platform
France's Bouygues Telecom has contracted with Alcatel-Lucent to deploy an IMS pilot network that enables the operator to test new multimedia communications services that are based on the GSM Association’s “Rich Communication Suite” specifications. Rich Communication Suite Initiative Gains Momentum
The GSMA has reported significant progress in the Rich Communication Suite (RCS) Initiative, a service providing enriched communication capabilities such as in-call multimedia sharing, conversational messaging and presence-enhanced contact management, all accessible through a user's mobile phone contact list. The initiative has generated considerable momentum across a number of fronts since the GSMA brought RCS into its work programme in September 2008, including the delivery of the RCS Release 1 specification, the addition of new programme participants and the successful completion of interoperability tests. more

SFR and Alcatel-Lucent field validate DVB-SH Mobile TV terrestrial network
Alcatel-Lucent says that, following the DVB-SH pilot jointly performed by French mobile network operator, sfr and Alcatel-Lucent from July to December 2007, both companies validated the fundamental assumptions for the deployment of a DVB-SH network co-localized, for its terrestrial part, with an existing commercial HSDPA network. more

Alcatel-Lucent Wins French IP/MPLS Contract
Alcatel-Lucent has been selected by France's sfr to supply a core IP/MPLS network. The company says that the IP/MPLS core network will enable sfr to offer a new set of differentiated mobile broadband services, full network Quality of Service (QoS) on a service-by-service basis. In addition, the core MPLS network based on the Alcatel-Lucent IP solution will enable sfr to improve on CAPEX and OPEX through the efficiencies of IP-based technology. more
