ZTE SDR Base Station Records Over 100,000 Volume Shipment
China's ZTE has announced that its sdr base station recorded a total volume shipment of 107,000 units in less than one year: since its latest product advancement in October 2008 through April 2009. ZTE attributes this to the growing popularity of sdr (Soft Defined Radio) technology favoured by global operators, including those in fast developing mobile markets such as China and India. more

ZTE Records 48,000 CDMA Volume Shipments in Spring 2009
China's ZTE has announced that it shipped 48,000 CDMA base station units worldwide in the first four months of 2009, almost reaching the total shipment volume in 2008. CDMA sdr-based base stations accounted for 91% of the total 48,000 shipments. Its ZXsdr BS8800, an sdr base station with capacity of 48 carrier-sectors, shipped over 25,000 units over the same period. more
Alcatel-Lucent Offers Converged RAN for CDMA Networks Migrating to LTE
Alcatel-Lucent says that it has expanded its wireless networking portfolio to inlcude a Converged RAN" (radio access network) which enables mobile service providers to offer both 3G CDMA and LTE services using a common network infrastructure. One of the key elements of the Converged RAN is the software defined radio (sdr) technology which has been available on the current Alcatel-Lucent base stations for a number of years already. more

Hong Kong Network Launches HSPA+ Upgrade
Hong Kong's CSL - a subsidiary of Australia's Telstra - has launched the world's first Software Defined Radio (sdr) based HSPA+ All IP commercial network, with the upgrade provided by China's ZTE. CSL invested hundreds of millions of dollars to establish the network. more
