Fractus Sues Ten Cellphone Manufacturers for Patent Infringement
Ten mobile phone vendors are being sued for allegedly infringing patents relating to internal antennas used on their handsets. Spanish antenna manufacturer, Fractus says that is has sued Samsung, LG, RIM, Pantech, Kyocera, Palm, HTC, Sharp, UTStarcom, and sanyo for infringing nine different patents. more

54 Million Private Branded Handsets Will Be Shipped in 2006
Some 54 million private operator-branded handsets - cellular phones manufactured for a mobile operator and bearing its logo only - will be shipped worldwide by the end of 2006, representing more than 5% of total handset shipments. Their sale to subscribers will generate US$8.7 billion for the operators, according to a new study from ABI Research. more
