Handset Start-Up Raises $100 Million in Funding

Israeli start-up handset firm, Modu is reported to have secured US$100 million in funding from investors and is expected to confirm this formally within the next few weeks. Local business newspaper, The Globe reports that the commitments were made on the basis of valuation for Modu of $150 million before money. The company is now in the process of completing its presentations to existing and new investors, both locally and overseas.  more

Scandisk Sends Samples of 12GB Memory Cards to Handset Vendors

sandisk says that it has begun to sample 12GB microSDHC flash memory cards to major phone manufacturers for testing and evaluation. SDHC is the designation for any SD or SD-based card that is larger than 2GB and adheres to the new SD 2.00 specification required for cards and hosts to support 4GB to 32GB capacities.  more
