Spansion and Samsung Settle Patent Litigation Lawsuit:

Spansion, the world's largest pure-play provider of Flash memory solutions, has announced that it has settled its patent litigation lawsuits with samsung Electronics. As part of the settlement, samsung will pay Spansion US$70 million and Spansion and samsung Electronics Company have exchanged rights in their patent portfolios in the form of licenses and covenants subject to a confidential settlement agreement.  more

Samsung Selects Spreadtrum as New Chipset Supplier

Chinese fabless semiconductor vendor, Spreadtrum Communications says that it has won a chipset supply contract from samsung. Spreadtrum's QS520 GSM/GPRS and QS1001 EDGE transceivers have been designed into samsung's mobile phone models that are to be shipped internationally. The company has commenced volume shipment of these two products to samsung.  more

Fitch Ratings says that it has revised its rating Outlook on samsung Electronics (SEC) and LG Electronics (LGE) to Negative from Stable.
