New Warnings Issued About Using Mobile Phones on Aircraft

The UK's Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) has issued a warning to airline passengers that using mobile phones during flight is still forbidden on most aircraft. Although some airlines have introduced 'mobile phone systems' on a number of their aircraft, the use of mobile phones generally remains prohibited on the majority of aircraft.  more

Ryanair Offers In-Flight Phone Calls

European low-cost airline, ryanair has launched an in-flight mobile phone service initially onboard 20 of its, mainly Ireland based aircraft. This is the first step in fitting ryanair's entire fleet of over 170 aircraft to allow all passengers to make and receive mobile calls and texts on all ryanair flights.  more

France's President Sarkozy Sues Over Fake SMS

Following the publication of an SMS, allegedly sent by France's President, Nicolas Sarkozy by the Nouvel Observateur newspaper - the President has launched legal action against the publication. The suit was filed yesterday on Sarkozy's behalf by lawyer Thierry Herzog over a report on the newspaper's website entitled "The obsession with Cecilia." It claimed that, eight days before marrying former model Carla Bruni, President Sarkozy sent his former wife an SMS message saying "If you come back, I'll call it all off."  more

Tacky low-cost European airline carrier, ryanair has announced a deal that will see it's entire fleet of Boeing 737 aircraft fitted with OnAir's onboard mobile communications solution. Banned from charging their cellphones at work

The low cost Irish airline, ryanair has imposed a ban on staff charging their mobile phones while at work - claiming that the few seconds spent plugging a phone into a charger is too much of a distraction.
