Roshan Expands Afghanistan's Telemedicine Project to Bamyan Province
Afghanistan mobile network, roshan has expanded its Telemedicine solution beyond Kabul to include provincial hospitals. Bamyan Provincial Hospital will be the first provincial medical facility linked to the Telemedicine project, which uses broadband technology, wireless video conferencing and digital image transfer, to provide hospitals in Afghanistan with real-time access to specialist healthcare diagnosis, treatment and training expertise from abroad. more

Taliban Threaten Afghan Mobile Phone Network
Afghanistan's Taliban are reported to be threatening to target the base station towers operated by roshan Telecommunications, claiming that the company is collaborating with US and Afghan authorities. The Taliban have given the operator 20 days to end its "collaboration" otherwise they will start attacking the towers. They claim that roshan is providing their phone numbers to the US coalition and blocking its mobile phones. more

Third Afghan network nears its launch
A third GSM network went live yesterday in Afghanistan. "roshan" is the brand under which Telecom Development Company Afghanistan (TDCA) will introduce its GSM service. The word "roshan" means "light" in Dari and Pashto, Afghanistan's two most widely spoken languages. more
