T-Mobile Goes Exclusive with Rohde & Schwarz for Network Optimization Test and Measurement Equipment
T-Mobile International has chosen the Rohde & Schwarz group as the exclusive supplier of its standard drive test systems, including the delivery of R&S ROMES software and associated mobile radio scanners to five European countries. T-Mobile International will use the drive test systems to test the transmission quality of channels in its mobile radio networks. more

In order to ensure a high and constant level of reproduction quality, the technical committee 3GPP has standardised test methods that enable the measurement of acoustic characteristics via the air interface. And the Global Certification Form (GCF) has prioritised and set up a list of 3GPP test cases including the appropriate acoustic test cases which are necessary for the certification of W-CDMA terminals. more

New security GSM phone launched
The German communications security company Rohde & Schwarz has launched a version of the Siemens S35i which incorporates an additional security layer. The modifications incorporate a combination of asymmetric 1,024-bit and symmetric 128-bit encryption. To activate the additional encrytion, a user makes a phone call then presses a "crypto" button to activate the higher levels of encryption. The person at the other end of the call must also be using a TopSec phone as well. The phones will sell for US$2,742." more

Qualcomm extend CDMA licenses to Rohde & Schwarz
Qualcomm has announced an amendment to Rohde & Schwarz' existing CDMA test equipment license agreement. Under the terms of the amended multi-million dollar agreement, Qualcomm has granted Rohde & Schwarz a license to use certain QUALCOMM patents, as well as purchase Qualcomm's advanced integrated circuits and system software for the manufacture and supply of test equipment products for current and 3G CDMA (cdma2000, cdma2000 1xEV, TD-SCDMA, WCDMA) applications. The Rohde & Schwarz Group of companies with headquarters in Munich develops, produces and markets Communications and T&M instruments and systems." more
