FMC and femtocell equipment markets poised to take off in face of downturn
Market research firm Infonetics Research has released a report on FMC and Femtocell Equipment, which forecasts that combined, sales of FMC network element equipment and femtocell equipment are expected to grow at a healthy rate through the economic downturn and really take off in 2011, reaching nearly $8 billion worldwide by 2013. more

Rogers Posts 84% in 3rd Quarter Profits on iPhone Sales
Canada's rogers Communications has reported an 84% jump in 3rd quarter profits on strong sales of Apple's iPhone handset and net subscriber growth. The company posted a net income of CA$495 million (US$386 million) compared to CA$269 million (US$210 million) a year ago. Revenues climbed by 14% to CA$3 billion (US$2.34 billion) as the company sold around 255,000 of the 3G iPhone handset. more

Canada's Two CDMA Networks Planning a Migration to WCDMA
Two of Canada's mobile network operators, Bell and Telus are reported to be planning a joint network upgrade which would allow them to offer services based on a WCDMA platform. Both companies currently operate a CDMA network and there have been rumours for the past few months that both were individually looking at a migration to WCDMA. more

Rogers Communications 2Q Net Up; Sees Higher 2nd Half Wireless Costs
rogers Communications posted higher second-quarter earnings in the absence of a large year-earlier charge, as revenue improved 12%. However, disappointing wireless and cable subscriber results prompted a decline in the company's stock price, particularly since there had been some market speculation ahead of the earnings announcement that the company would report strong result based on its recent track record. more
