Manx Telecom, which operates on the Isle of Man next to the UK, says that it has become the first telecommunications company in the world to gain BABT accreditation for both its fixed and mobile billing. BABT - British Approvals Board of Telecommunications - is the standard recognised worldwide which gives customers an assurance of accuracy in billing and pricing for telecommunications products and services. Comptel says that it is delivering its mediation and provisioning solutions to Easterbrooke Cellular Corporation, a mobile service provider in West Virginia, USA. According to the agreement, Comptel is delivering its Comptel EventLink solution for event mediation and usage data management and its Comptel InstantLink solution for automated service provisioning and activation. The Comptel solutions will support both GSM and TDMA networks to enable convergent services for voice, SMS, MMS and GPRS. more

Fraud Cost Operators US$170 Billion in One Year
Azure Solutions, the revenue-assurance company has revealed that global telecoms operators are losing an estimated 11.6% of turnover ($170 billion) through fraud and other types of revenue leakage in 2005, compared to 10.7% in 2004. This is one of the main findings of research Azure has conducted in conjunction with telecoms analysts, Analysys, into global telecoms revenue losses. more
