Nokia Siemens and Ericsson May Win 20% of Chinese 3G Tender
China Mobile is expected to announce the winners of its US$4.4 billion 3G network tender, with Nokia Siemens Networks (NSN) and Ericsson both expected to receive around 10% of the contract each. The contract is for the second phase of China Mobile's trial TD-SCDMA based service which aims to expand the network to a further 28 cities. more

China Mobile is planning to open a research centre in the USA - within California's Silicon Valley - sometime next year. This will be China Mobile's first overseas research and development effort. more

Comba Develops Chinese 3G Radio Unit
Comba Telecom Systems has announced the availability of its TD-SCDMA Remote Radio Unit (RRU) solution for China's 3G Market. The RRU is a fiber fed radio that extends the coverage of base stations, yet maintains an extremely small footprint. At the same time, Comba also signed a supply contract with a launch customer and announced that it has received an initial order for the new TD- SCDMA RRU from a major TD-SCDMA base station manufacturer. With a total value in excess of US$1 million, Comba's RRU is being deployed in 3G network trials within China. more

Argogroup says that it has deployed its quality management platform, Monitor Master, in China on a TD-SCDMA network. Monitor Master's testing capabilities for TD-SCDMA will provide operators in China with the ability to test and monitor their 3G services and the networks on which they run. Testing functionalities already available include mobile browsing and SMS, with video streaming and MMS testing currently in development and due to be deployed in the coming months. more
