RCom adds a record 5 million New subscribers in January 2009

India's Reliance Communications, a dual CDMA and GSM operator, says that it signed up a record 5 million new wireless subscribers on its network during January 2009. The entry of Reliance Mobile in the GSM segment has once again led to a significant expansion of the market, with the company seeing a significant 285% rise in new subscriber additions, within the first month of its nationwide GSM rollout.  more

Merged MTN-Reliance May Seek Listing on London's Stock Exchange

It has been reported that the proposed merger of South Africa's MTN with India's Reliance Communications would then seek a secondary listing on the London Stock Exchange. The London Times newspaper, citing sources close to the merger talks said that the negotiations, which started in secret several months ago, were going well and were likely to be concluded before the end of a 45-day exclusivity period.  more
