Testing 3G Video Streaming Standards
The International Multimedia Telecommunications Consortium's Packet-switched Streaming Services Activity Group (PSS-AG) staged a live face-to-face interoperability test event in June, kicking off its latest cycle of interoperability testing of 3GPP and 3GPP2 mobile phone streaming standards. The PSS-AG is focused on testing the interoperability of features from the latest 3G multimedia streaming specifications, including streaming bit-rate adaptation, multi-track signaling, and progressive download of the latest codecs including H.264 Video and Enhanced aacPlus Audio. more
RealNetworks expands its European presence
realnetworks has announced that leading European mobile operators are choosing realnetworks' Helix Universal mobile platform as the foundation to launch new video and audio content services over their 2.5G and 3G networks. Building on the company's previously announced Vodafone relationship, 26 mobile operators, including market leaders O2, Telefonica Moviles Espana, Telecom Italia Mobile (for Mobile TV Services), TMN, WIND, TeliaSonera and others have chosen realnetworks mobile platform. These operators have a combined mobile consumer footprint in Europe and the Middle East spanning 17 countries and reaching over 180 million mobile subscribers. more
