Brazil Approves Radio Spectrum Refarming Plans
The GSMA has congratulated Anatel, the Brazilian telecommunications regulator, for taking a position on spectrum re-farming. The GSMA says that Anatel's decision to re-allocate spectrum in the technology neutral 2.6 GHz band to support the nationwide deployment of next-generation Mobile Broadband services will provide mobile operators in Brazil with a clear future investment path for the country's mobile network infrastructure. more

Thailand Aiming for WiMAX License Auction Next February
Thailand's telecoms regulator expects to grant BWA/WiMAX licenses next February and has set up a committee to study ways of granting the licences, reports The Nation newspaper. The review will run in parallel with the ongoing review of 3G license tender plans. more

Brazil Delays WiMAX Spectrum Auction
Brazil's telecoms regulator, Anatel has announced that it is to delay the long-planned auction of WiMAX compatible radio spectrum in the 3.5GHz and 10.5GHz bands. In a statement on their website, the regulator said that it had consulted with the potential bidders, and the vast majority supported the delay. more
