South Africa Delays Radio Spectrum Auction
The Independent Communications Authority of South Africa (Icasa) has suspended its plans to issue four radio frequency licences, after companies objected to its auction process. The spectrum can be used to build wireless broadband networks that cover large areas and transmit high volumes of traffic cheaply. This will also increase competition in the market. more

Nokia Siemens Networks Starts production of LTE equipment for 800MHz spectrum
Operators will soon be able to extend the reach of mobile broadband services by exploiting the "Digital Dividend" radio spectrum becoming available as countries switch from analog to digital terrestrial TV. Ahead of the digital dividend spectrum auction currently underway in Germany, Nokia Siemens Networks has begun production of its LTE-ready Base Station radio frequency modules in the 800 MHz bands. more
