Motorola Wins Chinese 3G Contract
Motorola says that it has won a W-CDMA contract with China Unicom for an undisclosed amount. Under the contract, Motorola will provide China Unicom with W-CDMA radio access network equipment, packet switched core network (PS core), and 2G/3G interoperability functions that will enable the integration of China Unicom's GSM and W-CDMA networks. more

Jordan Gains its 3rd WiMAX Network Operator
A third WiMAX network has been launched in the Middle-Eastern country of Jordan, based on network infrastructure supplied by Motorola. Initially, coverage is being offered in the capital, along with the major cities of Irbid and Zaraq. The network, being operated by Mada Communications will be expanded nationwide eventually. more

Motorola and Mada Roll-Out WiMAX in Jordan
Motorola says that it has started rolling out a WiMAX network in Jordan on behalf of local firm, Mada. The company is expected to launch WiMAX services before the end of 2008. In addition, Motorola has designed a wholesale model, enabling Mada to offer WiMAX services to other Internet Service Providers (ISPs) in the country. more

India to Announce $9 Billion Network Contract on Wednesday
India's state owned Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd (BSNL) says that it will launch the tender for its 93 million mobile lines on September 10th. The contract is expected to be worth around US$9 billion, and has been delayed several times already. more

India's BSNL Delays $6.5 Billion GSM Network Tender
In a move which probably wont surprise industry watchers, India's Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd (BSNL) has decided to delay the date for opening its monster US$6.5 billion tender for GSM infrastructure kit. The bids were due to be opened on July 16 - but will now not be opened until August 30th. BSNL has a track record of delaying, amending and renegotiating its GSM network tenders - but this time put the blame firmly at the flood of interest in the tender. more

Motorola Helps Optimize Telefónica's Mobile Network in Spain
Motorola has published the interim results of its two-year managed services contract with Telefónica to optimize the operatorsÃ' GSM network in Spain. The company reports that through the optimization process, TelefónicaÃ's customers have benefited from improved network performance which has even resulted in the possibility in making calls from areas where previously it was impossible, thus increasing revenue for the operator. A reduction in dropped calls has also improved the overall experience and service quality for TelefónicaÃ's customers. more
